Best things about resortBeachfront.
Best attractions or restaurants nearbyMany restaurants and things to do near-by.
ReviewWe arrived at the new airport(ECP) without incident, except they had problems getting the luggage carriers to work. Rental car companies were right at the luggage pickup. Prices were high on these rentals.
Our check-in went smoothly. They had our room ready and we checked in early around 1PM. The usual, get the parking pass over there took place with me once again disappointing the on-site representative.
Our room was a one bedroom deluxe. Nice room. Typical timeshare furniture. Size was approx 1000 sq.ft. The kitchen was nice. Hard surface counter tops. Reasonably equipped. We were on the 17th of 25 floors.
The master bedroom was nice and roomy with a bathtub/shower combo. There is also a separate bath/stall shower off the hallway as well as the stackable washer/dryer. The hallway is long leading to the living/kitchen area. There are bunk beds off the hallway. This sounds kind of strange but surely would come in handy for the young family. All rooms are oceanfront. Ocean view is seen from the living room. The master bedroom is in the back of the one bedroom deluxe units. Internet service is provided free of charge and is supplied via Ethernet cable.
There are 2 pools at this resort. One is located across the street, adjacent to the parking garage. This is more geared to the young family and more scenic.(plants, shrubs, etc) The other pool is oceanfront, with a bar on site.
There isn’t much in way of extras at this resort. No game room. No fitness facility. There is plenty of nearby arcades,waterpark,scooter/motorcycle rental, mini golf, etc. There is the sky bar(no food) at the resort located on the crosswalk(3rd level) that takes you over to the garage parking and a star bucks on the 1st level. There are no BBQ grilles on the complex.
We signed up to Gold’s Gym for the week. The charge is 30 bucks a person. 40 if you don’t show your Wyndham room card. Awesome gym. More types of equipment seen than any gym I was affiliated with.
The ocean and the beach are just gorgeous and right out the resort door. The area is very nice. The typical junk shops do exist, but not too excessive. Pier Park has all the name brand shopping(but not an outlet complex) and a lot of restaurants and a movie theatre. There are even children’s rides in the complex. This is only a mile or less from the resort. This is a great walk around area. Live music at Tootsies bar was also fun.
I have read much about the complexity of getting to your room. It’s really not that big of deal. Here are few choices. Park the car at the entrance and valet your car(no charge, except tipping) Park on the first level and walk over to the hotel side. Park on the 3rd level and take the garage cross walk over to hotel bldg and then take the elevator to your floor. This hotel oceanfront, parking garage across the street is typical to the many hotel/resorts in the area.
There is a beach chair rental place as you enter the beach(not sure if related to resort)…this was a wow… 35 bucks for a day per chaise lounge and 25 per day for a week… needless to say, I passed on the chairs…you can buy a chair for 15 at the nearby Winn-Dixie.
There are no shortage of restaurants in the area. Most that we ate at were very good and prices no higher than those where we live. Schooners and firefly are 2 that were very good and meals were about 20-25.
We took a drive over to Destin to see what that area was like. Also beautiful beaches. We spent the day at the beach at Henderson State park. Quiet, clean with bathroom, outdoor showers and picnic facilities. We ate at McGuire’s Irish Pub. The food and drink were excellent. Couldn’t beat the home grown brews at 1.88 during happy hour (3-6).
This was a great beach vacation and would definitely return. With points costs at 275,000, made it one of my more expensive timeshare stays. This is a nice beachfront resort but for the point costs/maint. fees, they could have done more to this resort to the rooms, as well as areas around the resort. I would look to come back here again in a minute, hopefully as a much cheaper exchange.
