Perfect home base for adventure or just relaxing Date: September 4, 2010
Best things about resortFully equipped unit with everything in the kitchen, and a washer and dryer (perfect for light travellers - consider this when going to Hawaii, baggage isn't always there when you are, carry-ons are a must!!). The lanai AND balcony were perfect for rain and shine. The pool and BBQ area were amazing. The huge center atrium was beautiful.
Best attractions or restaurants nearbyThe restaurants in Kona are good for the first night, they are inviting with their large waterfront patios, but beware that some of them are pricey and don't have the best food. The best food we found when travelling around was in smaller towns where they have to attract locals with great food and good prices. Everything on the island is accessible in less than half a day. Make sure you visit Kealakekua bay to rent kayaks and visit Captain Cooks monument for some snorkelling... Unforgettable, and doesn't require athletic ability :-)

ReviewAll in all and amazing vacation! The resort was a great base to get to the rest of the island for any adventure, but if you want pool side bliss it's great for that too.

The staff were incredible, so helpful and they made sure our stay was amazing. We flew in a day early and stayed in one of the hotel units the first night, the staff made sure that we were checked in to our RCI unit early and moved our mountains of baggage and groceries for us so we could enjoy a day at the beach.

We went with honeymooners and they had the time of their lives. I would go back in a heartbeat.

WONDERFUL!!! Date: July 13, 2010
Best things about resortThe service! We have never stayed somewhere where they were so concerned about us. It was great. Fresh leis for us when we checked in! We were in unit 111. Ground level unit right next to the pool and hot tub. Beautiful unit. Nice appliances, plenty of supplies. There is even a hairdryer in each bathroom. Very nice tvs in living room and both bedrooms. Central A/C, that worked really well. Free safe in master bedroom. Midweek cleaning was a plus. We were able to borrow boggie boards and beach mats for the week (just ask when you check in) and there were other supplies too like coolers.
Best attractions or restaurants nearbyKona Inn is really good if you want a nice dinner (quite pricey, but good). Also, ate at Kona Canoe Cafe and that was really good. The zip line in Hawi is very fun. Bamboo Restaurant in Hawi is amazing. Love Hapuna Beach!! If you like to walk, it is an easy walk from the resort into Kona. No street lights in a few places between the resort and Kona so be aware if you are thinking of walking at night.

ReviewNo beach at resort. But, there are units that are ocean view. Also, if you are at the pool you are right next to the ocean and it is a great view. Not many ocean view condos in Kona. Grills available by pool. Only complaints were that the rollaway mattress and the sofa bed mattress were really bad. Also, they advertise craft making but when we wanted to do crafts they were out of pretty much all of the kits. Wi-fi in unit would be nice so you didn't have to go to the lobby. It is expensive to print boarding passes using their computer. However, lots of free parking. Very quiet at night. Very helpful staff when planning activities such as snorkling tours, etc. We swam with the manta rays at night (with Chris at Sea Hawaii Rafting) and that was a great experience. He's a super nice guy and we had a blast.

Best Outfitted Kitchen of any timeshare

ReviewWe really enjoyed our stay here. The staff were exceptional and very customer care oriented. The kitchen was outfitted the best of any timeshare that I have ever stayed at.

The Luau that they put on was very sweet and nice. They provided beautiful, fragrant Leis, a lovely assortments of Hawaiian specialties and the singing and dancing was very sweet. Lovely people and a highlight of our stay.

We drove over to Hilo one day and enjoyed lunch at the Ponds - fabulous restaurant. We also enjoyed eating at Splashers in Kona and Jamieson's at the Beach which was down the road. We did a lot of cooking at our condo though and were extremely pleased with how well outfitted the kitchen was.

We went snorkeling a couple of days and the resort lent us beach chairs, an umbrella, beach mats, surf board, noodles and blow up lounger. When we checked in, they told us not to buy anything and to come and see them and they would be happy to outfit us for our entire vacation. It was so nice to be able to use their equipment and enjoy snorkelling with the Huge Sea Turtles.

We stopped at Costco to pick up groceries on our way to the resort and were able to check in at 1pm. It was so nice to be able to check in early and be able to enjoy the resort. We went swimming every day - the pools are not very big but were perfect for our needs.

We found everyone (guests and staff) to be very friendly and happy. Everyone was happy to share suggestions and ideas for activities. We really loved our stay here and would love to come back.

Decent unit as a base of operations. Date: May 17, 2010
Best things about resortStaff and concierge were very friendly and helpful. Close to everything in Kona, and a good place to start excursions. We didn't spend much time at the resort, there was not much reason to be there.
Best attractions or restaurants nearbyHugos on the Rocks, Mamalahoa Hot Tubs, Kona Brewing, Kona Canoe Club, Snorkle Bob's, Southside Shaka (southernmost bar in the US), Black Sands Beach, Green Sands Beach (4-wheel in unless you want a 6 mile hike thru volcanic rubble), Volcano Winery (strange, but fun). Mauna Loa Mac tour was a waste of time. Buy your souveniers at Walmart and save about 25-50%. Seriously, same stuff as the souvenier shops.

ReviewThe resort was not as nice as we expected, but was perfectly fine. You could tell it was an older resort with some new-ish paint. Furnishings were dated, as were electronics & appliances, but were in good working order. Timeshare units were apparently low priority, as far from the beach as possible, with a view of the street or parking lot. The units were huge, and beds comfortable, and clean. Pools were not terribly nice, kind of like a Holiday Inn. And tons of screaming children (and adults). Why can't resorts designate one "quiet" pool? No beach access, unless you jumped the fence.

Staff and concierge were very friendly and helpful. Our unit had no hot water, and we were immediately moved to another unit, no questions asked.

Do NOT miss the Mamalahoa Hot Tubs, about 20 mins south of Kona. A jungle paradise with amazing hot tubs and wonderful massage. A highlight of our trip. Also, the night manta ray snorkle was unbelievable, and the night flight over the lava was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Also, if you were expecting sunny days... don't, the volcanic smog is pretty much always there in Kona. We did have a bit of sun, and if you drive north past the lava fields, it becomes lush and sunny.
