A Fantastic Place - especially in the off-season! Date: August 29, 2010
Best things about resortSPACE!!! Plenty of space for a large family. There were two adults and four kids and everyone had their own breathing room. Not cramped at all with the multiple level units.
Best attractions or restaurants nearbyThe horses, the beach, the shops, just a great location all around - even with the stormy weather we had during the off season, we all really enjoyed ourselves. Best vacation the kids have had.

ReviewThe unit was huge! A little challenging to find at first, but once your in, you don't forget how to get back and forth. The roads flooded a bit with all the rain and we didn't get to see any of the horses but it was so cool for the family to drive along the beach to lighthouse at the end and get out and play in the sand dunes.

TONS of attractions to see, from lighthouses to the sand dunes, to the horses, and if you tire of all that, the heated enclosed pool (which is a short walk from the units) is VERY relaxing.

We simply had a ball.

Best things about resortThe duplex format was great. With 2 families in adjoining units, this expanded the living space for all.
Best attractions or restaurants nearbyWalmart / Food Lion is just around the corner for quick grocery stops. Great when you run out of supplies.

ReviewThe only negative was the need to drive to the beach. But there is reserved parking so that wasn't not too much of a problem anyway. Otherwise, everything was great... the staff, the amenities, the unit.

ReviewWe were in unit 1601. The 1600 villa has four addresses (2 down, 2 up). Each is then subdivided into A and B which share a common corridor with Washer Dryer. Each unit had a single bedroom, since we got a 2 BR unit we had both AB with a connecting internal door. A unit had a King and 2 full baths. B side a Queen and 1 full bath. Both units very very clean and well kept. The furnitue had some wear but not bad. The king bed passed my back test and was very comfortable. 1601 was right across from the outdoor pool and within walking distance of the fitness center which was great. Even Walmart was close enough to walk to but the resort is still secluded. Each villa is seperated by trees. The beach definitely needs to be driven to. You can go out the back gate but then it is .75 miles during which you cross the four lane 158. However the resort has a private (although the gate was never closed) parking lot right across Beach road from the beach. The fitness room was very well equiped. The outdoor pool was getting dirty by the end of our stay but that was my one complaint. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would come back again.

ReviewThis was our second visit to this resort and we could see a definite decline in quality since our previous visit four years ago. Where to start ... the unit layout was terrible. Son, daughter-in-law, and grandson's "bedroom" was almost like a closed up loft with no door to close for quiet / privacy. It was hot up there unless we froze the main level. Worse, there was no bathroom nearby. They had to come down the stairs, through the living room and down a short hall to use the bathroom which was directly outside of our bedroom. The unit itself was gloomy - we ended up turning on all the lights even during the day to be able to see well enough to read. The TVs are small and ancient - almost comical to try to read "CNN-HD" on a snowy screen, but not funny.

We had a screen porch but the screen was torn and the door ill-fitting so no protection from insects, which were plentiful while we were there. The ice maker put out wet ice which re-froze into a large mass. Maintenance tried four times to fix it but were unsuccessful and gave up.

As for amenities, the indoor and outdoor pools were both nice with plenty of chairs. The hot tub needed cleaning. The tennis courts were in bad shape and filthy - our yellow tennis balls turned black. Ping pong table had seen better days - balls can't bounce true on a pitted surface. Had internet access at the check-in center - would have been nice to have it in the unit.

Given that we were warned of consequences if we failed to return our towel cards at the end of the week, I expected the pool towels to be good quality, hence a $20 charge if they were not returned. Bring your own beach or pool towels - the loaners were about the size of a face towel and thinner than any towel I've ever used.

We won't return to this resort. It's not the quality we have come to expect.
